WHY SHOULD MY SYSTEM NOT BE A TOTALLY WIRELESS SYSTEM?
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HARD-WIRED AND WIRE-LESS SOLUTIONS?

There is little doubt new 'wireless' solutions are much more dependable than those available in the past. In fact, many modern solutions require this technology to operate at all. The modern 'security/alarm' system will probably be a harmonious combination of both these technologies. If you have included a 'key-fob' or 'remote key-pad' in your system you will automatically have used both technologies.

The term 'hard-wired' is given to a device or peripheral that is directly connected by the use of standard 'low-voltage' (telephone) wires to the Security System's Control Panel. These wires will provide a facility to power the device as well as carrying the signals from the device to the controller. Most Security Professionals would agree that a 'hard-wired' system is more dependable than a 'wireless' solution simply because, all communication takes place over wires.

A system can be 100% 'hard-wired' but it cannot be purely 'wireless'. In some way, the controller will have to be 'wired' to power, and in the case of a monitored system, the telephone. This can be done with normal 'plugs' however, if so, the entire Alarm/Security system will be susceptible to 'tampering'. Simply unplugging power on device, unplugging it from the phone-jack or lifting the 'hand-set' anywhere in the house could disable the entire 'security/alarm' system.
