FIRE..

Devices are available that will provide warning on accelerated 'heat rise'.  These devices or 'range' sensing devices can report to the monitoring station on a 24/7 basis.

FLOOD..

These devices are able to detect the presence of water.  Often placed in the tray below the hot water tank, they can even be designed to automatically turn off the water to the tank.  ,

Other specialty devices warn of gases, smoke and even broken glass.
